On the afternoon of the 31st, the production presentation of Wave’s original drama ‘You Raise Me Up’ was broadcast live online. The event was attended by actors Ahn Hee-yeon (Hani), Yoon Si-yoon, and director Kim Jang-han.
‘You Raise Me Up’ is a sexy and lively comedy drama in which Yong-sik (Yoon Shi-yoon) in his 30s, who is suffering from erectile dysfunction, reunites with his first love, Ru da (Ahn Hee-yeon) as a urology doctor, and stands tall as the protagonist of his life after twists and turns.
Yoon Shi-yoon takes on the role of Do Yong-sik, a 31-year-old public servant. He is a person who was forced to receive urology treatment because he was not enough to have a thick belly while preparing for the civil service exam.
Yoon Shi-yoon said, “I was worried that it might be seen as unfavorable or how the viewers would take it, but I think it came out fun.” He continued, “Erectile dysfunction is a device for a big message. It’s a story about panic when you lose things you took for granted, when it seemed like it would last forever, and then disappear. I use the word ‘stand’ for fun. It’s not like the enemy is standing tall, but because you have to stand up with two feet. It’s a story about getting up on two feet, so it’s cute and witty until the end.”
Ahn Hee-yeon takes on the role of Lee Ru-Da, a urologist who met her first love as a patient. Ahn Hee-yeon challenged her first comedy genre. She said, “Honestly, I wanted to experience the growth of Yong-shik from Lee Ru-Da’s point of view.”
Next, Ahn Hee-yeon said, “I should have brought out more of the past than professionally. I learned the part that I did not want to think about and did not want to admit while filming ‘You Raise Me Up’.”
Ahn Hee-yeon said on the radio that the synchro rate with Lee Ru-Da was 25%. She laughed, “My mother saw the highlight video and said, ‘This is just you.’
When asked about Lee Ru-Da’s performance in the drama, Ahn Hee-yeon said, “In dramas, women are often rescued from swimming pools, but in ‘You Raise Me Up’, there is a scene where Lee Ru-Da saves Yong-sik. This is so cool that I also wanted to show a cool side like that.”
When asked about breathing with Ahn Hee-yeon, Yoon Si-yoon said, “I have a feeling of disarming people. I was very comfortable doing melodies because I was curious.”
Regarding Yoon Shi-yoon, Ahn Hee-yeon said, “I didn’t act long enough to make the acting different because I was aiming for a differentiator. I don’t know. He took care of me. He also gave me a present.”
When asked about the point of watching, director Kim said, “There are many interesting supporting characters. Puppies are fun too.” Ahn Hee-yeon said, “If you watch the work until the end, you will find out why you lost what you take for granted and how you can get it back. I hope you will receive a lot of comfort and stand tall if there are people who are dying.”
Wave’s first solo original drama ‘You Raise Me Up’ is an 8-episode series and was released at 3 pm on the 31st.
