tvN’s ‘Hometown’ Uhm Tae-goo showed his strong trust in director Park Hyun-seok, who was reunited after 9 years.
When asked about the reason for choosing ‘Hometown’, Uhm Tae-goo drew attention by saying, “I decided to appear because I wanted to meet director Park Hyun-seok.”
Uhm Tae-goo and director Park Hyun-seok are reuniting for the first time in 9 years with ‘Hometown’ following the one-act play ‘Art’. Uhm Tae-goo said, “It can be said that the director and I continued working together as a rookie. He said, “I am so happy to meet him again. It was good 9 years ago, but now it’s even better.” He continued, “Not to mention breathing on set, I’m already filming thinking that it would be nice to work together again next time. I am working with the mindset of ‘I can only do well’,” he said.
On the other hand, Uhm Tae-goo is an actor who shows an irreplaceable presence by leaving a strong impact in every work. Jo Kyung-ho, who plays the role of ‘Hometown’ this time, is also attracting attention because he foretells the birth of an unusual character as a life imprisonment for an unprecedented terrorist incident. Uhm Tae-gu said, “More than anything else, I am faithful to the script” in order to realize Jo Kyung-ho. He continued, “Cho Kyung-ho is a character with a lot of dialogue, and there are many important things in his lines, so he is eagerly looking at the script. Also, he is a character who pays attention to the part that expresses the mystery side. In the beginning, I looked for various materials, but now I am faithful to the script and I am creating a character by talking a lot with the director.”
Another interesting point about Jo’s character is that he has been imprisoned in prison for 12 years. Uhm Tae-goo is expected to appear in prison for most of the drama. Uhm Tae-goo said, “Jo Kyung-ho is a character that doesn’t move much, so he sits and talks or sits still, so he’s physically comfortable while filming. On the other hand, Yoo Jae-myung and Han Ye-ri are struggling a lot outside.”
On the other hand, Uhm Tae-gu drew attention by expressing his affection for his colleagues, saying, “I really wanted to work with actors Yoo Jae-myung and Han Ye-ri.” In particular, Han Ye-ri, who works as a brother and sister in the play, said, “I met briefly through other works before and a few times on the radio. For a while, Uhm Tae-goo said, “There is one thing I regret, but there are very few scenes with actors Yoo Jae-myung and Han Ye-ri. If there is a chance next time, I want to work with the two of them once again,” he added, raising curiosity about how their relationship will be portrayed in ‘Hometown’.
Meanwhile, ‘Hometown’ is a drama with an interesting structure in which current and past events are intertwined. In response, Uhm Tae-goo stimulated curiosity by saying, “As it is a drama that goes back and forth between the present and the past, there are changes in hairstyles, and I also wear glasses when filming the current scene.” He also said, “The director and staff are taking care to express the background of the times. The director and the staff are suffering a lot.” He thanked his colleagues for their hard work and gave a glimpse of the teamwork of the ‘Hometown’ team.
Finally, Uhm Tae-goo said, “Mystery thrillers have a sense of tension and fun one by one. ‘Hometown’ is a work with a new ‘branch’ in addition to such fun,” he said. You will probably know when you see it.”
‘Hometown’ will premiere on September 22 (Wednesday) at 10:30 PM.
