MBC’s new ‘Friday-Saturday Drama’ blockbuster relay, which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, begins in earnest with ‘The Veil’.
This is the first time for MBC to present a Friday-Saturday drama. It visits viewers with a high-quality blockbuster drama twice a week at 10 pm on Friday and 10 pm on Saturday, which is the actual start time of the weekend.
MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama is expected to become the best ‘Golden Watch Line’ in the weekend area along with popular entertainment programs ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Point of Omniscient Interfere’.
First of all, ‘The Veil’, which will be broadcast for the first time on the 17th, is considered as the most anticipated work in the second half of this year. This blockbuster action masterpiece starring actor Namgoong-min was jointly invested by MBC and Wavve, the largest OTT platform in Korea.
‘The Veil’ is the story of a missing top agent of the National Intelligence Service who returns to the organization to find the inner traitor who dropped him into the abyss. Nam Goong-min, a ‘trustworthy treasurer’, plays Han Ji-hyeok, the top agent of the National Intelligence Service, and Park Ha-sun, who is Han Ji-hyuk’s motive and team leader of the Crime Integration Center, who keeps a secret. In addition to Kim Ji-eun, a ‘monster rookie’ Kim Ji-eun, who is an elite member of the National Intelligence Service and Han Ji-hyeok’s partner Yoo Jay, Kim Byung-gi, Lee Kyung-young, Jang Young-nam, and Yoo Oh-seong, who show off a heavy presence just by their names, appear, raising expectations for a Korean blockbuster-class action drama.
In November, the full-fledged royal romance historical drama ‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ will continue the MBC Friday-Saturday drama.
‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ is a mournful royal romance historical drama about a court lady who wants to protect the life she has chosen and a king who puts the country more than love. The title ‘The Red Sleeve Cuff’ refers to the sleeve part of the dress worn by the court lady, meaning ‘the woman of the king’. It is an authentic romance historical drama that MBC will show for the first time in two years since ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae-ryeong’, which brought the youth historical drama wind in 2019, and is based on the popular novel of the same name by Kang Mi-gang.
Actor Lee Jun-ho, who returned with a more mature charm after being discharged from the military, takes on the role of the perfectionist Crown Prince Lee San, while Seongdeok-im, a court lady who wants to choose her own life, will be played by ‘goddess of historical drama’ Lee Se-young. While the high-end court romance of Lee Jun-ho and Lee Se-young, who transcends the wall of status, is raising expectations, actor Kang Hoon plans to draw the character Hong Deok-ro, who hides his cool inner side behind his warm appearance. It is also worth noting the appearance of actors who have been loved for a long time by viewers, such as the great actors Lee Deok-hwa, Park Ji-young, and Jang Hee-jin, who appear in the drama after a long time.
In the first half of 2022, actress Kim Hee-sun. Top stars such as So Ji-sub and Park Hae-jin meet viewers through MBC dramas one after another. First, actress Kim Hee-sun will appear in the Friday-Saturday drama ‘Tomorrow’, which has been confirmed for the first half of next year.
‘Tomorrow’ is the story of special grim reapers who came to save people, and is based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name. Kim Hee-sun is expected to provide a different kind of fun by taking on the role of Gu-ryun, the Grim Reaper, the head of the crisis management team at the ghost management headquarters of ‘Juma-dong’, a monopoly on the underworld.
Actor So Ji-sub will also appear in ‘Doctor Royer’, a full-fledged medical suspense that has been confirmed to be a Friday-Saturday drama in the first half of next year. So Ji-sub takes on the role of Han Yi-han, a genius surgeon who has become a lawyer specializing in medical litigation after losing everything through a rigged operation, and uncovers a mysterious case surrounding him in the past.
‘Doctor Royer’ is an exhilarating medical court drama that calls out to a heartless world that believes that wealth and power can also prioritize life.
Actor Park Hae-jin, who received a lot of love from MBC’s ‘Kkondae Intern’ last year, will meet viewers through the weekday mini-series ‘From Now, Showtime!’ in the first half of next year. ‘From now on, Showtime!’, which has been drawing attention from early on with its unique title, is a new concept romantic comedy in which a magician who uses a ghost meets a female detective and solves a case through a psychic investigation. Park Hae-jin will play the role of Cha Cha-woong, a magician and employer who uses ghosts, and will perform a unique sweet performance.
