Can the blockbuster action ‘The Veil’, which has invested 15 billion won, become a savior to save the MBC drama?
At 2pm on the 16th, the production presentation of MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama ‘The Veil’ was broadcast live online. Namgoong-min, Park Ha-sun, Kim Ji-eun, and PD Kim Seong-yong attended the scene.
MBC’s 60th anniversary special project ‘The Veil’, which will be broadcast for the first time on the 17th, is the story of the best field agent of the National Intelligence Service, who disappeared a year ago, and returns to the organization to find the inner traitor who dropped him into hell. This is the winner of the 2018 MBC Drama Script Contest written by Park Seok-ho.
Viewers have often been exposed to dramas based on information agencies. When asked about the differences from the previous dramas with the same material, PD Kim Seong-yong said that the strength was that it was produced with the active support of the National Intelligence Service and that it was well-verified in reality.
PD Kim said, “He visited the National Intelligence Service in the past 10 years and said that there was no film filmed. ‘The Veil’ was produced with the active support of the National Intelligence Service. Conflicts within the National Intelligence Service are realistically expressed. All the actors look like employees of the National Intelligence Service. I want to talk about things to see and action, but I think the high density of reality is what sets our drama apart.”
‘The Veil’ is expected to stimulate interest in the complex conflict structure reminiscent of a real situation, power struggles between powers, and events in the drama based on active cooperation and advice from the National Intelligence Service. Here, a chase scene of an unusual scale and an action scene in which actors threw their whole bodies, foreshadow more abundant attractions.
Namgoong-min takes on the role of ‘Han Ji-hyuk’, a top agent of the National Intelligence Service, and Park Ha-sun plays ‘Seo Su-yeon’, the team leader of the Crime Integration Center, who is Han Ji-hyuk’s motive and secret. Newcomer Kim Ji-eun will play the role of ‘Je Yi’, a member of the National Intelligence Service elite and Han Ji-hyuk’s partner. Actors such as Kim Byung-gi, Lee Kyung-young, Jang Young-nam, and Yoo Oh-seong are also expected to energize the play.
In particular, Namgoong-min gained a lot of attention with a body that gained 10 kg or more and was ‘bulk-up’. Namgoong-min said, “I wanted to show people who do scary things rather than look like a person named Han Ji-hyuk because he often takes retaliation and punishment.”
Regarding Namgoong-min’s casting, PD Kim Seong-yong said, “Isn’t Namgoong-min an actor you can trust and see and a great person to interpret the script? When I received the script, the first thing that came to mind was Namgoong-min. “he said.
He continued, “Fortunately, they enjoyed watching it and accepted this offer. I was working really hard and having fun filming.” “As I was working on it, I understood why it was ‘Treasury.’ It has the power to make you believe in it and have no choice but to see it.
Park Ha-sun, who has recently shown realistic acting such as ‘Birthcare Center’, is trying to change through this work. Park Ha-sun said, “I’m looking forward to it. I think I’ll be able to show a side that I haven’t shown before. I once thought that I wanted to appear in a drama as I participated in an awards ceremony before. I wore short hair and put on thick makeup.”
Park Ha-sun also revealed that Namgoong-min was the reason to appear. She said, “I’m taking this opportunity to tell you for the first time, but in fact, I chose it because there is Namgoong-Min.
Episode 1 and 2 of ‘The Veil’ cannot be viewed under the age of 19. In response, PD Kim explained that it was an inevitable choice for realistic action.
PD Kim said, “Not all episodes are restricted to 19 gold viewing. Due to the nature of the episode, Namgoong-min’s action appeared in the process of solving the case and the appearance of a criminal group, and the level of the level increased.” I had no choice but to express it realistically in order to increase satisfaction.”
“There may be some inconvenient elements, but I want you to know that I did not write with a specific group, organization, or country in mind.”
On the other hand, I asked if there was any pressure about having multiple titles. PD Kim replied, “As I was working, the feeling of pressure turned into responsibility.”
“I was thinking about how to approach the viewers in a fun way. The actors and production team put their hearts and minds together to provide fun. I felt the value of collaboration and offset the burden. .”
